John Cena & WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Big Show & Chris Jericho in a Lumberjack Match

The summer humidity outside may have hung heavy in the Missouri air, but the tension inside was almost thick enough to choke on. As Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show sized up their opponents, WWE Champion Randy Orton & John Cena, The Viper and Cena were busy sizing up each other. And who could blame them?

Although Cena and Orton harbored obvious distrust, the WWE Universe voiced their opinion on WWE e-Vote, affirming that they felt the two would still manage to squeeze out a victory.

To add to the intrigue, Prinze Jr., bravely returned to establish the tag team bout as a Lumberjack Match with the ring surrounded by his handpicked Superstars, all with a suspicious eye on Orton.

Not only do Orton and Cena have a laundry list of complaints about one another, they’re set to square off in six days at SummerSlam. With a weary eye on their “partner,” both Orton and Cena tried to fend off the sizable challenge of their tag team tormentors. In the end, it was Cena who captured the victory for his team by pinning Jericho. True to form, however, The Viper RKO’d his partner to show his gratitude. As if to prove his mettle, Cena not only rebounded, he also tossed both Jericho and Big Show out of the ring.

  5. CrisZ: Unknown: But Orton didnt attack Cena during the match and Cena didnt attack Orton. At least they didnt attack each other during the match. Also, they won cause of Cena, but most of the match Orton was the one in the ring.

Of course they won because of Cena. John Cena is the WWE’s equivalent to Superman. He’s portrayed as the ‘Goody Two-Shoes Golden Boy’ of the WWE who ”never backs down from a challenge” and constantly defies the odds. In just about every match you see, he’s the one who either does most of the work, or is being carried. That’s the way the WWE is portraying him, and to be completely and totally honest, the dude *DESPERATELY* needs to turn heel. His gimmick is beocming stale, and as a babyface, there’s only so much you can do and accomplish before the audience loses interest. Fans are fickle; you can be the crowd favorite for only a short period of time, before they start losing interest in your character and the WWE creative team has no other alternative than to turn you heel.

That’s the life of a WWE character–it’s a complete circle. You start off as one character personality, then alternate to another, and then come right back to where you started from.

  6. Unknown: but Orton Kept Pulling His hand Away when Cena was going to make a tag and thats not nice so you guys LIKE ORTON GO TO HIS SITE THIS SITE IS ONLY FOR CENA FANS ONLY.

Unknown: OH AND UMMMMMM ORTON DID THAT 2 TIMES TO CENA

Dude…I am neither a fan nor a hater of either John Cena or Randy Orton. Lets establish that fact right now. Both men are extremely talented and possess a great amount of potential and energy. If they continue to go down the path they are going, it’s pretty much inevitable that someday their names will be forever engraved inthe Hall of Fame and in wrestling history.

Also, yes: I did indeed watch the match and had seen the interaction between both Orton and Cena. If you didn’t know this already-Randy Orton is the heel, that means, in wrestling terminology, the ”bad guy.” His job is to be underhanded and devious and draw as much heat and hatred from the audience as possible. Randy Orton was just doing his job by refusing to get tagged by Cena.
Cena is the good guy, Orton is the bad. A positive and a negative force. They are not supposed to get along or coexist.

  9. http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/3680.html – the article says that Cena was booed at the game, but didn’t list out why. It seems like the haters would use anything like this as ammo, but here’s a vid that might shed some light on the situation:

He overthrew the ball and that’s why. There are certain places that will boo guests who overthrow a ceremonial first pitch, and I guess Dodger fans are also known for doing that.
