WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes ended in a no contest when The Legacy attacked guest referee John Cena, drawing out D-Generation X
Before Raw’s main event between WWE Champion Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes could begin, special guest host Dusty Rhodes reminded John Cena and the WWE Universe that there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his son. Following his declaration, both Orton and Cody Rhodes turned on The Viper’s WWE Breaking Point opponent. The third member of Legacy then joined his associates in attacking Cena.
The treacherous act got the attention of D-Generation X, however, who rushed to the ring in spite of the three-on-two odds. After Dusty Rhodes clobbered Triple H with his boot, the multi-generational Superstars got the best of DX. But as Legacy stood proud over Cena, The Game and HBK, yet another double-cross occurred, with Orton hitting Hall of Famer Rhodes with a lightning-quick RKO. Though Cody Rhodes was initially angry about The Viper’s attack on his father, he reluctantly fell in line.

Raw was okay last night. Just like a lot of folks, I did not see the Dusty swerve coming as well as the RKO from Randy on the man. I thought Cody was going to beat Randy up, even the crowd wanted him to do so. His promo last night was a bit over the top, but I guess that’s his style and at least he can get the attention of tons of people. At least he’s vowing not to quit and he staked claim to victory in two weeks. Let’s hope it happens, right? Next week will be interesting with Bob Barker as a guest host. Does he even know what WWE is? I’m hoping that he has SOME general idea about the product. Since he was the legendary host behind the game show “The Price Is Right,” I could see some of the games deciding matches. Plinko for title shots or using the Showcase Showdown wheel, anyone?
I think I already put this in the comments, but check this out. It’s WWE.com pics from when he threw out the first pitch at Comerica Park, which is the Detroit Tigers’ home ballpark yesterday.

Looks like he had a great time as always. I wonder why he was dressed to impress rather than rocking his trademark look of a t-shirt, shorts, and ballcap. To me, it looks like he wore a purple tie, white cufflinks with some gold, a white shirt, black slacks and black loafers. And also, he was wearing a customized Tigers jersey with his last name and 54 on the back. For those who think he doesn’t “clean up well,” think again. And as a baseball fan, I must say that he showed excellent form while delivering the pitch and Curtis Granderson was the person who caught the ball, who is the Tigers’ center fielder and a big wrestling fan.

Lol! Showcase showdown wheel for the match types. That would be absolutely awesome to see. Hopefully, like you said, he does have an inclination as to what the product is and doesn’t make too much of a hiccup of it. Its OK if the guest hosts know what the product is and don’t mess up. It was the same with Jeremy Piven; as soon as he mentioned SummerFest, it just went downhill.
Also, I have to say — I thoroughly enjoyed the promo he delivered. It give the sense that he wasn’t going to quit, no matter what and had great delivery. It was a bit OTT, sure, but isn’t that the same with most Cena promos? I thought he had great delivery.

Yeah, the point about a promo is not only about how the lines are being delivered but also HOW they are delivered. There are folks out there who hate an OTT delivery, but the mere fact that that type of delivery is an attention grabber is good enough for me and I’m guessing others. There are some people in the ‘E who could learn a little bit from John on how to cut an attention grabbing promo with emotion behind it.

Yeah. In my opinion, although John is given the over the top sort of promo all of the time, the delivery he does is absolutely amazing. You can really feel the emotion behind it and I agree some people could take pointers about how to cut a promo from John. From my recollection, I haven’t seen John Cena deliver a really bad promo; he always has a believable stand point and even the crowd invested in his promo last night. If you heard they were saying “I will not Quit” with him.
I can’t honestly see him quitting come Breaking Point. In fact most of the matches look a bit too predictable in my eyes: I mean is ‘Taker really going to tap out to CM Punk? Is John Cena really going to say I Quit? Are Mark Henry and MVP really going to topple JeriShow? It just won’t happen.

that promo wasn’t all that he came out to hard with and trying to get people in to i think he should just do it natural like how the rock do his promo you don’t have to shout to get what your saying across to the fans but the promo wasn’t bad either just next time don’t yell, but as for the ending i liked that he got jumped didn’t see that coming but anyway i wonder how breaking point go.

And remember the Montreal factor, hope that doesn’t rear its ugly head. If that happens in the I Quit match, Orton loses a TON of credibility in my eyes. And Punk had Hardy to play off of to make his character better, how do they build him up against Undertaker? Having him say that he doesn’t fear temptation, drugs, or the Deadman. The gong hits and Punk becomes frozen with fear. The only way they can build Punk up is with brutal sneak attacks to make fans believe that Punk might have Undertaker’s number.
And besides, I think that there are two people in history who have used an OTT delivery and I THINK they were successful. Two names come to my mind: Hulk Hogan and The Rock Did those guys achieve some notable success in wrestling as well as in life? Judging by both and how they are recognized, I would answer that with a resounding YES.
A lot of hypocritical wrestling fans think that abililty in the ring is the only thing that matters, but you need a little bit of everything to be successful, right? To me, the attitude era wasn’t just judged on wrestling abililty, but there was more of an emphasis on personality. John Morrison has had to win fans over with his ability in the ring, but I haven’t seen much personality from him as a face. And there was really no explanation on how he turned from a heel to a face, perhaps on a whim. John Cena started winning over fans with his personality, but I think we haven’t seen the best out of him in the ring yet. Once hourdes of fans started cheering for Cena, it was a no brainer to turn him face. Sure this has been met with some resentment, BUT he is still the most over performer on any brand whether he is the Champ or not. And he has managed to evolve in so many aspects, even though critics say that he hasn’t changed at all.

That’s a smack in the face to every performer and Canada!
Quite why they have to relive the moment (as they did with Saturday Night Main Event a few years ago), I have no idea. It just doesn’t make any sense. The wrestling fans don’t exactly want to see another one of the Montreal’s screw jobs and it gives a bad impression whenever it takes place in Montreal. God knows why they keep using this factor in Montreal. I can’t honestly see how they are going to build Punk up to a credible level where he can take on the Undertaker, it just won’t happen. For one he doesn’t have the look, nor build that can say “I’m going to beat the Undertaker.” At least Edge, Batista and Shawn Michaels have had the technical prowess/power behind them that makes them believable. As far as I see the only way they’re going to go is “A Drug free life helped me beat the Deadman.” However, if it is his return match, that isn’t going to happen.
The Rock was totally over the top in his delivery, but it worked back then. Fans weren’t so cynical about delivery and just went with the product. I mean, need further proof? Mae Young giving birth to a hand? Fans were willing to bypass that for the good stuff. Yet in todays market, wrestling is so challenged by the fans that its almost no fun anymore.

that hand was funny but see it’s wwe fault because they did so much good and funny stuff back then people enjoyed it where now it’s not fun anymore cause it’s not really as good as it was done back in the 90s but since we have more kids now kids would never understand it example hornswoggle and chavo kids think that all these things they are putting with these two these kids find funny but it’s not funny to chavo because he was a tag champion with eddie and cruiserweight champion and he can actually put on 5 star matches with him being put in these kind of shitty matches irritates and disrespect the legacy to the guerror family, and as for the delivery of a promo if a kid where watch an attitude era promo they wouldn’t understand it but if they where to watch one of these promos they be oh that was great when it really isn’t but it’s wwe fault fans just don’t want to see trash.
